Eating And Sleep Translational (EAST)
Research Laboratory
Welcome to the Eating and Sleep Translational Research Laboratory (EAST Lab), formerly known as the Eating, Sleep, and Self-Regulation and Health Research Laboratory (E-SLASH Lab).
Our lab investigates the dynamic interplay between eating and sleeping—two essential, daily behaviors whose disruption can impact mental and physical health. We conduct experimental, observational, and longitudinal studies to investigate the motivational, emotional, and cognitive mechanisms underlying the relationship between sleep and dysregulated eating.
We also conduct clinical trials to evaluate the adaptation of evidence-based psychological and behavioral interventions for disordered eating and sleep disturbances. Specifically, by leveraging innovative technologies such as mobile technology, passive sensing, and ecological momentary assessments, we aim to develop scalable interventions that benefit diverse populations.
